I have been an artist all of my life and have explored almost every medium. I enjoy creating these standing figures, they personify Mother Nature. The faces are archetypal, Mother Nature herself, not human. I am inspired by the subtle interplay of color and form and texture: antique tapestries and silk, bones and gems, turtle shells and ocean creatures... all exquisite patterns.

The work is at once real and magical, a place where the simple and the profound, the commonplace and the sacred can merge. My intention is to create a place from which peace, harmony, wisdom and mystery can emanate… the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

This work is also an out-picturing of my inward journey to connect with my own spirit and authenticity, to satisfy my longing for inner peace and contentment. My hope is that in experiencing this work, others will resonate the same.

Once each piece is complete I write the thoughts and inspirations that continue to express a deeper meaning.

A shaman is a person who helps us heal through our connection with Nature and with Spirit. Kachina literally means Guardian Spirit or Messenger. I feel very fortunate to have found an art form that allows me to express my deep love of the natural world and to share the healing potential of this world with others.
